Buying a Treasure Hunt

Yes, we offer free Royal Mail Tracked 48 shipping within the UK. If you want to use a slightly faster service, there's a small extra charge for Tracked 24.

All our books are sent out with a free presentation envelope (you can see the design below), so if you're giving the treasure hunt as a gift, it'll look really special! The envelope is unsealed and has space for the recipient's name, so you can personalise it yourself.

As we are already working on a number of Treasure Hunts, which will launch in 2026, we wanted to give people the chance to buy these as presents in advance.

The Guarantee reassures you that if they aren't published on time, then we'll give you your money back and a free Treasure Hunt (we're really confident that we'll publish on time, unless Detective Cluesworthy gets hit by a falling meteorite, while out on a case).

All our gift cards (physical and by email), will still work for ANY of our Treasure Hunts. So, if you buy one for Edinburgh with the guarantee, but change your mind, you can use it for Manchester, London, or any other hunt you want. This is just an added bonus.

If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase, you can return it unused, and in its original packaging, within 30 days for a full refund. If you'd like a refund, you need to contact us before returning the book.

Going on a Treasure Hunt

No. The hunts are self-guided, and you can undertake them whenever you want - although we recommend daytime if you want a clear view of the clues. You can stop as many times as you like, and can even split the hunt across more than one day.

Each book has a page with hints, that should explain how the puzzle works. If you get really stuck, there are also the answers to all the puzzles at the back of the book. If you can't find the location for a puzzle, then the book has a link to a secret page on our website, with photos of all the clues.

We try and pick permanent features that aren't going to move anytime soon. However, most towns and cities will have events or building work that may block off parts of the routes from time to time. We don't want you to miss out on any puzzles, so we've taken photos of every location we use, and each book contains a link to our website, showing all the clue photos.

Our routes will pass plenty of places for you to stop for a coffee, have a snack, or even a fancy meal. We've not added these places to the map as they often come and go, whereas many of the pubs we've picked out have been around for hundreds of years and are in historically interesting buildings.

We've done our best to make the routes accessible. We try to avoid steps, but where a route isn't flat, we've provided alternative step-free routes on our maps.

Given the nature of tourist areas, there are likely to be cobbled streets on a number of our routes.

Our trails are roughly 2 miles / 3 km long and usually take about 2–3 hours to complete, plus any stops you make along the way.

There’s no time limit, though—you can start, stop, or take a break whenever it suits you. Some people even split the trail over two outings so they can take things slowly and really enjoy all the sights.

The books are aimed primarily at adults, and older teens.

However, we've found that younger children also enjoy the puzzles, even if they need a little more help.
